KAHANAMOKU-TERUYA
Patty for OHA
Navigating Forward for the Future
Aloha Kākou!
My name is KAHANAMOKU-TERUYA Patty, and I am a Native Hawaiian and Okinawan, deeply rooted in a lineage of Watermen. Growing up in the shadow of greats, my mother Joanne Kamuela Kahanamoku and my grandfather Samuel Alapai Kahanamoku, Duke Paoa Kahanamoku’s beloved sibling, instilled in me a profound sense of heritage and service. This rich legacy fuels my commitment to honor and serve our beloved Hawai’i. As I seek your support for a position with the Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA), I am reminded of the responsibility that comes with our shared history. Together, let’s work towards a future that respects our past, serves our community, and builds a stronger Hawai’i for generations to come.
My Story
As a candidate for the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, my story is one of ocean legends and hardworking immigrants, a tale of two worlds that have shaped my vision for our islands’ future.
The sea runs deep in my veins, inherited from my mother, JoAnn, and her family, the Kahanamokus.
